Random Ideas Mission
Random Ideas is a small, family run software business specializing in applications for the Mac OS X platform. Jiva DeVoe, the founder of Random Ideas, has over 10 years of software development expertise. When he founded Random Ideas, he wanted to have a socially responsible business where developers could do what they love to do, write great code.
We believe that every one is born to do some particular thing with their lives. We believe that for each person, there is something that their fingers naturally know how to do without them consciously thinking about it. This is called the dharma, and for every person it is unique.
For a pianist when you have the perfect synchronization between what the pianist is feeling and the flow of that emotion into the keys and music, that's the dharma. When Curley says to Billy Crystal in City Slickers, "You find that One Thing!" The thing he means, is the dharma.
For every person the dharma is different. We don't know what yours is, but we do know what ours is. Our dharma is to code. To birth software into the world. To breathe life into our creations so that they can live on their own and grow.
Random Ideas is all about making an opportunity for its employees and its customers to do the dharma. We're passionate about our mission in life and we hope that you are too. The best way for us to continue to do our dharma is to provide the tools you need to do yours. In this way, the cycle continues. We help our customers to satisfy their dreams, and they help us to satisfy ours.
So our first goal is to make great software that our customers love to use. The second part of that goal, is to use the proceeds that we gain from making that great software and invest those proceeds back into our company, our community, and our employees.
We recognize that in order for a company to be socially responsible, that company must also invest heavily in the community. Because of this, we choose to invest 5% of our pre-tax net profits in charities.
Through this process, we know that Random Ideas will be the place that we will want to work for the rest of our lives. And in the end, what else really can we ask for?
